Progressive Reporting was founded in 1971, back in the days when interstate trucks had multiple license plates and drivers carried a “bingo card and stamps”. A lot has changed over the years, including us, we like to think we have gotten better with age. Helping trucking companies be successful is a lot of work, but we enjoy it. There is nothing better than seeing our clients grow and achieve the lifestyle they want.
We work hard to stay current with ever changing regulations and a more competitive economy. As Nation Wide Transportation Consultants with 40 years helping truckers, we’ve been there and done that. Progressive Reporting Agency has a long tradition as a family run business and over the years we have learned that putting customer’s needs ahead of profits is what truly makes us successful. The company is currently owned by the father and son team of Rich and Chris Vernon. They are dedicated to helping make sure your business is as successful as it can be.
Chris has been in the Utah National Guard for over 20 years and served as an Engineer Company Commander in Afghanistan. He is grateful for all the support he received from Progressive Reporting customers while deployed and wants to thank everyone by sharing a video his wife made that shows some of what his family experienced during the deployment. Prior to his deployment, Chris ran the day-to-day operations of Progressive Reporting and spent much of his time ensuring customers were pleased with the level of service they received.
Now Chris is focusing on growing the company and ensuring Progressive is able to provide a wide variety of valuable services to our customers. Prior to joining the company, he worked for Flying J from 2005-2009 in various capacities in the banking, finance and insurance divisions. The insurance division of Flying J was acquired by The Buckner Company, where Chris was before taking an ownership stake in Progressive Reporting Agency.
Chris attended Weber State University graduating magna cum laude in Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance and a minor in History. Outside of work Chris enjoys spending time with his wife and four children, investing in real estate, and anything that involves the outdoors. He resides in North Salt Lake, Utah.
Rich has over 20 years of business experience running multiple businesses in the heating and air conditioning and real estate fields. He provides invaluable insight into the strategic direction of Progressive Reporting.
Rich received his undergraduate degree from Utah State University and holds a Master of Public Administration degree from The University of Oshkosh Wisconsin. He spent 13 years in the Army as an intelligence officer, before getting out to buy his first business. His most interesting military assignments were in Germany, patrolling the West German/Czechoslovakian border, and in Panama and Colombia where he provided intelligence to those fighting the drug war. Rich has a variety of hobbies including bee keeping, falconry, biking, wakeboarding and traveling with his wonderful wife. He is a father of four and grandfather of six, hopefully with more to come.
Ariel was born in Utah and has been a long-time resident of Salt Lake. Ariel attended college locally and studied business management. Her career started in the hospitality industry where she was the Suites and Meeting Services Manager for a sports and concert arena. She then went on to a 5-Diamond hotel as the Beverage Manager. Working in these positions meticulous customer service was ingrained in her and has carried with her to the transportation industry. She helped set up the new Ground Transportation Department for Salt Lake City and the Salt Lake City International Airport as the city ordinance went through a huge overhaul. Working for the city, she was responsible for making sure that all taxis, shuttles, limos, and passenger vehicles met city ordinances, along with helping to develop office policies and procedures.
With her transportation experience, love of working with people and providing excellent customer service, being an Agent at Progressive Reporting Agency (PRA) Ariel has found a perfect fit. Her main role with PRA includes: setting up new Utah and out-of-state IRP and IFTA accounts, consulting on fleet management, registering vehicles, filing monthly, quarterly, and annual taxes, obtaining various state-required permits, title work and various other tasks. She values building professional and personal relationships with PRA clients and enjoys being able to help take the stress out of being DOT compliant.
In her free time, Ariel’s focus and joy comes from her three daughters, who are the lights of her life. She has been involved in youth hockey for the past six years where she has enjoyed volunteering and sitting on the Board of Directors for Davis County Youth Hockey. She’s a huge Brooklyn Nets fan and if she was to ever move out of Utah it would be to Miami (even though her heart belongs to NY). On any given evening you might catch her at a local show or concert and when she is able, she likes to travel to other states to watch her favorite artists’ concerts. She’s a proud (and somewhat new) collector of sneakers; Nike’s and Jordan’s, though you won’t see her wear them often.
Tyler grew up and received his early education in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. In 1998 he received an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science from Utah Career College. He practiced that skill for six years designing packaging and marketing materials.
Tyler has ten years of successful experience in sales and customer service in lighting manufacturing, retail, and educational and mentoring products. He started a retail outlet, managed it profitably and was able to sell it to a regional retail chain.
His primary responsibilities at Progressive Reporting Agency are to help grow the business by establishing a DOT-compliant Drug and Alcohol Testing Program, helping new customers obtain their Motor Carrier Authority, and providing outstanding customer service.
Tyler loves his family! He has been married for 20 years. He and his wife have four beautiful children, three girls and one boy. Needless to say, he and his wife stay busy. He enjoys fitness and loves to work out at the gym; ice hockey, racquetball, cycling, swimming, and running. He likes to test his body to see how far he can push it. He has done the Seattle-to-Portland bike race twice, 206 miles in one day. He enjoys reading a good book or watching a good action movie. Most of all, he is a gamer at heart. His Xbox One is near and dear to him.
Mercedes has taken on responsibilities in IFTA reporting, preparing clients for safety audits, writing DOT corrective action plans and guiding clients through the safety upgrade request process. Her knowledge is of great value to Progressive Reporting and its clients. She strives to make a great impression and help new clients develop long-lasting relationships with us.
Before Progressive Reporting Agency, Mercedes was a dedicated student participating in the Cambridge International Examination program in English, Mathematics, and European History. This allowed her to thrive as a student leader in academics and extracurricular committees, as well as become a tutor for other students. Although she has always lived in Utah, Mercedes values the experiences of going on a humanitarian mission to Bolivia and Peru and visiting London. Mercedes is the proud mother of one daughter.
Jaclyn was born in and has lived most of her life in Salt Lake City, Utah. She has two daughters who have provided her with two awesome grandsons. She loves to spend time with her family and enjoyed raising her two girls. In her spare time you might find her dancing, hiking, taking walks, or traveling. Her favorite destination was Kauai, Hawaii. Previously she worked for a legal process company for 12 years and is trained as a private investigator and is a notary public. Another job she enjoyed was managing a Halloween store. She likes people and strives to give outstanding customer service. Jaclyn adds to the friendly spirit in the office and always looks for the positive.
